Call for Traditional Tourism SMEs in

Italy, Germany, Slovenia, and Croatia,

to participate in 

EU DigiTOUR Hackathon!

The EU DigiTOUR Call for Traditional Tourism SMEs was extended till the 31st of January 2024, 17.00 CET, due to the high interests from the companies. To any tourism SMEs in Italy, Germany, Croatia, and Slovenia, who are eager to embark on a journey, implementing digital technologies (AR/VR; IoT; Big Data; and AI) to elevate their business, grab this opportunity now!


The Hackathon events will be celebrated in person in Croatia, Italy, and Germany. The events will be celebrated in a hybrid way (in presence at local level + online). 45 tourism SMEs will team-up and compete for 30 vouchers (10,000€)* to be assigned at the end of the Hackathons. The Hackathons are designed as an open events and will be open to any EU member's citizens to encourage multi-cultural, cross-industry collaboration that breeds creativity.

Who Can Apply?

In order to participate in the EU DigiTOUR Hackathon, all three compulsory requirements to participate must be met: 

A) To be a Small or Medium Enterprise (SME) as in EU recommendation 2003/361*


B) To be a legally established tourism SMEs and its main economic activity is in the tourism sector as reflected in their NACE codes (I55* and N79): 

  • Hotels and similar accommodation (Nace code: I5510) 
  • Holiday and other short-stay accommodation (Nace code: I5520) 
  • Camping grounds, recreational vehicle parks and trailer parks (Nace code: I5530) 

Travel agency, tour operator reservation service and related activities (Nace code: N79*)


C)  The company must be registered in: Italy | Germany | Croatia | Slovenia

How to Apply?

General Rules And Deadline For Submission Of Applications


  • Applicants are required to complete the application form available through this link: https://x23eupro.grantplatform.com/
  • The application is consist of a form to provide information about the tourism SMEs profile, their needs around product/process/service using AI, AR/VR, IoT, big data.
  • Only proposals submitted in English will be accepted. Submissions written in another language will not be evaluated. 
  • Only proposals submitted via: - the Good Grants on-line platform, complete with all the templates annexed will be accepted. Paper/printed versions submitted by post or other means will not be accepted. Hand-written applications will not be accepted. 
  • Submission opening date: October 13, 2023, 09:00 CEST 
  • Submission deadline: January 15, 2024 at 17:00 CET. Only applications submitted before the deadline will be accepted. The Deadline of the Call has been extended till the 31st of January 2024 at 17.00 CET.
  • During this period, questions about the application process can be addressed at info@eudigitour.eu
  • Participation in the EU DigiTOUR Transformation Academy will be an asset. 
  • Please note that only the Application Form (Annex I) which has to be filled in will be evaluated at the submission phase. It is, therefore, of utmost importance that this document contains all the relevant information concerning the action. Applicants are expected to provide complete and accurate applicant information and data via the Good Grants online platform, as provided in the “Guide for Applicants”.
  • Each application received will be sent over an “Acknowledgment of Receipt” email. No late submissions will be accepted and in the case, will be returned via email re. "call closed"

The first modified version of the Call announcement, Annex IV Financial Agreement and Annex V Guide for Applicant were provided on 16th of January 2024 incorporating the new deadline of the submission, which is the 31st of January 2024 at 17:00 CET (Brussels Time) and subsequent changes on the timeline.
